Environment
This week, Sant Just Desvern remained within the high-risk zone for African swine fever, meaning wild boar population control measures and public prevention recommendations remain in place. The municipality also experienced an episode of extreme heat, with temperatures reaching up to 37°C (98.6°F), while the Town Council reinforced its urban pest prevention campaign in response to the increase in mosquitoes and cockroaches. In addition, the Municipal Council gave initial approval to the future Low Emission Zone (LEZ) project, which now enters a public consultation period before its final approval.
Culture
Preparations for the 2026 Festa Major continue with the announcement of Soledat Sans i Serafini as this year's official town crier, the creation of the Festival Coordination Committee, and the confirmation of El Pony Pisador as the headline act at the Barraques concerts. A new session of the graphic novel book club featuring Javier Casado has also been announced, Francesc Fàbregas' exhibition "Formelandia" remains open to visitors, the lecture "The Secret Life of Satellites" has been presented, and the Carme Malaret Creative Space has launched the participatory project "Memories from Nowhere." Artist Kursaz also visited the studios of Ràdio Desvern for an interview.
Sports
La Bonaigua hosted the annual recognition ceremony honoring the municipality's athletes and 22 local sports clubs, highlighting both their sporting achievements and their social commitment. Meanwhile, the organizers of the Karts de Coixinets have begun recruiting volunteers to help prepare the celebrations for the event's 50th anniversary, scheduled for 2027.
Youth
The Casal de Joves continues to expand its summer program with a table tennis tournament, an obstacle course, and The Impostor Game—three free activities designed to encourage leisure, participation, and social interaction among young people in Sant Just during the summer holidays.
Community
The Barri Centre neighborhood is preparing for its traditional community dinner on July 25, which will once again follow the popular bring-your-own-food format alongside its usual festive activities. In addition, the local police have reminded residents of the main recommendations for preventing home burglaries during the summer holidays, especially when properties are left unoccupied.
Housing
The results of the Local Housing Plan survey confirm that access to rental housing remains one of the municipality's biggest concerns. Most respondents are calling for more affordable housing, the use of vacant homes, and new measures to improve access to housing in Sant Just Desvern.
Economy
The 2025 Baix Llobregat Socioeconomic Report concludes that the region continues to improve its main economic and labor indicators, with higher employment and lower unemployment. However, it also warns about the challenges posed by an aging population and the increase in workplace accidents.
