Safety

The heavy rain alert led to the suspension of classes in Sant Just on Wednesday, September 9. The Catalan Government imposed restrictions from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Baix Llobregat and four other counties, with the Inuncat emergency plan activated and a danger level of 5 out of 6. Outdoor sports activities were also suspended, and residents were advised to avoid non-essential travel.

Education

The Marrecs and Mainada nursery schools have introduced a shared educational project, based on respect, play, experimentation and collaboration with families. The 2026–2027 Educational Guide has also been published, with activities that schools can apply for until September 30. Innobaix has opened registration for the 11th edition of Innobus, a free program for university graduates aged up to 40, featuring company visits and innovation challenges in November. The deadline is October 15. The documents also include a reference to an education strike, without specifying its date, scope or demands.

Society

Sant Just will launch training to help older people deal with administrative procedures. The first session will take place on September 18, at 10 a.m., at El Mil·lenari. The 23rd BaixCicletada will be held on September 27, departing from Plaça del Parador at 10:30 a.m. and finishing at Parc de Torreblanca. Meanwhile, En Bici Sense Edat ended 2025 with 940 rides and 1,866 people accompanied, and is organizing a new training session on September 25. It has also been announced that eight women from Sant Just will take part in the 13th Baix Llobregat Women’s Congress on October 23 and 24.

Mobility

Electric scooters will have to be registered, insured and carry visible identification. From October 1, 2026, the minimum age for riding them will be 15, and helmets, lights and reflective vests will be required under certain conditions. The ATM has also put out to tender a system that will allow single tickets to be paid for by bank card or mobile phone, with a rollout planned for 2027, without changes to travel passes or fares.

Culture

The Ateneu will launch a chess school for children aged 7 to 12, with classes starting on October 6 and a maximum of 12 places. The new theatre season will open on September 19, at 7 p.m., with ‘L’Ateneu aixeca el teló’, a preview of upcoming productions by the Factoria de Teatre. Another highlight this week is the opening of ‘Interior/Exterior’ on September 10 at 6:30 p.m., an exhibition of work created by students from the visual arts workshops at the Celler de Can Ginestar.

Health

The Local Health Indicators Report and the Salut Up! Survey have presented a snapshot of the municipality, with 20,815 residents and 938 hospitalizations in 2024. The data also cover mental health care and the habits of students in their final year of compulsory secondary education, showing improvements in diet and physical activity, but increased vaping and consumption of energy drinks.

Environment

Sant Just has joined the AMB metropolitan campaign to improve waste separation, which is being promoted throughout August and September. The initiative aims to facilitate recycling and reduce the volume of waste sent for final treatment.

Sports

The Vertical Walden will return on October 17, at 10 a.m., with a timed stair-climbing race covering 16 floors, 240 steps and more than 50 meters of elevation gain. Trail Barcelona will open registration on September 14, with limited places and four categories for participants aged four and over.
