Sant Just Institute will begin the next academic year with a new leadership team headed by Marta Jansana. The new management aims to strengthen educational innovation, student well-being, inclusion and diversity, and collaboration with families.
Urban Planning
Sant Just Town Council will reinforce street cleaning in the Plana Padrosa–Bellsoleig neighborhood with a new mechanical street sweeper that will operate on Friday afternoons to improve road maintenance.
Culture
Sant Just will pay tribute to composer Leonardo Balada with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and a piano concert. A new edition of the SEAS Mountain Photography Competition has also been launched, while the Town Council has published the full program for the 2026 Festa Major. The Harmonia Senior Choir will perform during TVE's Sunday Mass on 26 July, the Ateneu has opened registrations for a new beginner's bridge course, and this week we also interviewed Toni Méndez, from the Sub-60 group, about the Festa Major's '80s Party'.
Society
Sant Just's markets will modify their opening hours during the summer, with the Municipal Market closed from 10 to 24 August. The Regional Observatory has found that women continue to take on the majority of household and caregiving responsibilities. Tickets have also gone on sale for the Festa Major's 'Quinabarra', and the Senior Citizens' Afternoon Tea and Dance has been announced, including a tribute to couples celebrating 50 years of marriage.
Sports
The Youth Centre will organize a pickleball tournament and a free volleyball afternoon to encourage young people to take part in sport. Registrations are also open for the second edition of the Let's Woman Pàdel +40 tournament, which will take place in September at Pàdel Sant Just.
Tourism
The Baix Llobregat Tourism Consortium has launched the "Baix Llobregat, Your Summer Destination" campaign, featuring more than one hundred activities and a new route developed in collaboration with the Catalan Government Railways (FGC) to promote sustainable tourism across the region.
Economy
Sant Just ended June with 486 unemployed residents, fifteen more than the previous month, while maintaining an unemployment rate of 4.9%, one of the lowest in the Baix Llobregat region.
Environment
The Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) has presented new studies on extreme heat, warning of the increasing frequency of high-temperature episodes and providing tools to help design public spaces that are better adapted to climate change.
Politics
Mayor Joan Basagañas reviewed the municipality's main current issues on Ràdio Desvern, highlighting the future Low Emission Zone, which will be introduced progressively across Sant Just.
