The September municipal council meeting dominated much of the local political news. The session approved an amendment to the Metropolitan General Plan to update the uses of industrial estates, improvements to the water supply network, the rules governing access to protected rental housing, and a modification to the 2026 municipal budget. ERC’s motion on restrictions linked to African swine fever was also approved, while the motion submitted by VOX on Ceuta and Melilla was rejected.
Society
Registration is now open for Sant Just al Carrer 2026, which will take place on 25 October as part of the Autumn Festival. Organisations, groups and individuals can register until 15 October.
The Youth Centre is hosting the third edition of the Oktoberfest this Saturday, with food, music, family activities and a mix of German and Catalan culture.
Also on Monday, Zainab Saberi, an Afghan journalist and artist, will take part in a talk at Les Escoles on the situation of women in Afghanistan, as part of the Cities Defending Human Rights programme.
Culture
The Ateneu is bringing Matilda, the Musical back to the stage this weekend, with a cast of children and young people aged between 7 and 14 and two performances at the Sala del Cinquantenari.
The Ateneu Literary Club has also started the new season with a focus on short practical workshops, including an introduction to poetry with Pilar Carceller and a travel journal workshop.
The Local Catalan Language Service has launched the group Llegim en veu alta i parlem!, which combines reading aloud and conversation around works by Mercè Rodoreda, Núria Pradas and Lluís Llach.
The graphic novel reading club dedicated a session to Joséphine Baker, based on the work by Catel Muller and José-Louis Bocquet, while the Network of Cultural Facilities has presented an autumn programme with courses, talks, outings and workshops running until December.
The Carme Malaret Free Creation Space is presenting Records d’enlloc this weekend, an audiovisual installation created from nearly one hundred summer videos submitted by different participants.
Solidarity
Sant Just Solidari has launched a project in Diourbel, Senegal, which has made it possible to build a water well and a two-hectare community garden, led by local women and linked to agricultural training.
This Sunday there will also be a charity yoga session at the Renata Ramos París Dance School. All proceeds will go to Acció Solidària i Logística projects in Nepal, after floods destroyed a hostel for people with visual impairments.

Voleibol Sant Just has been crowned champion of the 2026 Catalan Women’s Super League after beating DSV CV Sant Cugat 3-2 in a final decided in the tie-break.
Environment
The Baix Llobregat area is taking part this weekend in a new edition of Benvinguts a Pagès, with six farms and wineries across the region open to visitors, as well as an agricultural route and a gastronomic activity.
Sant Just will also launch a mandatory canine genetic registry this October. DNA samples will make it possible to identify dogs from faeces left in public spaces, and the test will be free during the first three months.
Tourism
Can Ginestar has joined the new Gaudí and Modernism Route of Baix Llobregat, an initiative linked to the 2026 Gaudí Year that connects different heritage sites in the region through activities, routes and public transport options.
Health
The CAP Sant Just Desvern has hosted the start of the flu and COVID-19 vaccination campaign for the Barcelona Metropolitan South Health Region. The first phase is aimed mainly at vulnerable people, children under the age of 5, and teaching, healthcare and social care staff.
Mobility
The urban JT bus line continues to gain passengers, with increases of up to 44.4% compared with before the route change. The service has also introduced improvements such as a new shelter in Can Candeler and plans for a new stop in front of the Town Hall.
