Incidents
The week has been marked by a series of break-ins in the Mas Lluí neighborhood, with up to three establishments affected in just a few days. This prompted an immediate increase in police presence and the deployment of special operations, including patrols and checkpoints. Authorities also issued a call for public cooperation to report suspicious activity and prevent further incidents. The situation culminated in the arrest of two individuals allegedly linked to the robberies, intercepted while preparing a new break-in, in a coordinated operation involving the local police, Mossos d’Esquadra and other forces, which concluded in Sant Cugat del Vallès. Earlier in the week, an accident between a tram and a truck caused a partial derailment, one injury and service disruption for over two hours.
Culture
Cultural activity has been particularly intense, with initiatives combining performing arts, music, literature and community participation. Highlights include the International Dance Day program, with activities running over several months, and the ‘Teen Classic’ concert, aimed at bringing classical music closer to young audiences. A documentary screening on the first Catalan ascent of Everest has also been announced, followed by a discussion. In literature, the 12th edition of the La TRAMa contest has opened, encouraging collaborative storytelling, alongside the publication of a poetry collection linked to the twinning with Camoapa.
The week has also featured stage productions such as the musical ‘Into the Woods’ at the Ateneu, as well as participatory activities like a textile reuse workshop at La Vagoneta. In addition, the call for exhibitions at the Celler de Can Ginestar for 2027 has been launched, expanding opportunities for local creators. The municipality is also preparing for the third edition of the Terrasses Musicals, which will bring live acoustic performances to bars and restaurants throughout May and June.
Meanwhile, the Gardens of Can Ginestar hosted a special Sant Jordi broadcast by Ràdio Desvern, with the magazine show La Rambla airing live and featuring participation from several local schools.

In the youth sector, the Casal de Joves has hosted several activities, including a dissemination session for the ‘Stories from the North’ project, where young participants shared their experience in an international exchange in Iceland. An intensive physical preparation course for aerial disciplines has also been organized, aimed at participants aged 12 to 40, focusing on flexibility and injury prevention. These initiatives were complemented by the celebration of Circus Day, featuring a participatory cabaret led by young local artists.
Society
On the social front, the launch of the M7 App stands out, a tool designed to enhance youth safety through features such as real-time alerts, direct contact with the police and location tracking. A talk on the situation in Colombia, within the Ciutats Defensores program, brought insights from a human rights activist specializing in peace processes. Additionally, the local parish organized a charity dinner to raise funds for projects focused on access to water and development in Angola and Haiti.
Ràdio Desvern has also launched ‘Just in English’, a weekly radio program aimed at the international community, offering local news, information on services and interviews.
