Sports
Sant Just is gearing up for the Tour de France on 5 July, an event that will turn the Walden 7 square into the center of a major community celebration. The day will feature entertainment activities, live race coverage and the passage of the popular Tour Caravan, with the aim of transforming the occasion into a large public festival open to all residents.
Housing
Housing has been one of the week's key topics. The Town Council is currently drafting the new 2027–2032 Local Housing Plan, which will include a public survey to gather opinions and proposals from residents. At the same time, this week saw the draw for rental housing for senior citizens at El Mil·lenari, which established the order of allocation and future waiting lists. In the political arena, PSC spokesperson Isabel Darder defended the new regulations governing the allocation of protected housing and stated that Sant Just has a larger stock of public housing than many neighboring municipalities.
Education
Education news has been marked by the start of the Catalan teachers’ vote on the Education pre-agreement, a consultation viewed with skepticism by teachers at Institut Sant Just due to the lack of concrete measures regarding class size reductions. It was also announced that a public tie-break draw for municipal nursery schools will take place on 10 June, determining priority order in the event of tied pre-registration scores. In addition, students from Institut Sant Just and Madre Sacramento School took part in a project on responsible pet ownership and animal welfare, visiting managed cat colonies and learning firsthand about the work carried out by local animal protection organizations.
Culture
Culture has featured prominently this week through a range of initiatives. Can Ginestar will host a series of lectures dedicated to Mercè Rodoreda, while L’Ateneu will present a tribute concert to Duke Ellington featuring several musical ensembles. New details have also emerged about Sant Just’s 2026 Festa Major, which will include the first activities organized by the newly created Coordinadora de Festes. In addition, the AUGGE has scheduled the lecture “The European Union in the Trump Era”, delivered by Joan Ribas Ariño. This week also included an interview with local resident Ton Fumadó, director of the short film Agnes.
Urban Planning and Mobility
The Town Council has continued implementing improvements to public spaces across the municipality. Highlights include new street lighting installations and maintenance work on streets, squares and public facilities, as well as modifications to the traffic light system on Avinguda Ricardo Bofill, which have improved traffic flow towards the B-23 motorway. The municipality has also reported on the renovation of several children’s playgrounds, a process in which children actively participated by selecting the new play equipment to be installed in local parks.
Environment
Sant Just has carried out several initiatives related to environmental sustainability. Between February and April, maintenance work was undertaken on urban trees and green spaces, including new plantings and improvements in various public areas. Also noteworthy was the appearance of Barcelona Energia on Ràdio Desvern, where practical advice was provided on reducing electricity consumption and lowering household energy bills.
Community
Urban art has become a tool for public awareness through the creation of a mural trail dedicated to children’s rights, designed by artist Carolina Adán. The murals, located throughout the municipality, highlight fundamental children's rights and will continue to expand in the coming months. It was also announced that El Mil·lenari Social Centre will open registrations on 10 June for its 2026–2027 programme of activities aimed at regular users.
Religion
The visit of Pope Leo XIV to Catalonia has sparked significant mobilization in Sant Just. The Sant Just i Sant Pastor Parish has filled a coach with 50 parishioners who will accompany the Pontiff during his visit to Montserrat on 10 June, a day that will also include a stop at Can Brians prison within the territory of the Diocese of Sant Feliu de Llobregat.
Economy
Finally, the Soledat Sans Serafini Civic Centre will host a lecture on personal finance and household budgeting, delivered by Ana Barceló. The session will provide practical tools for managing expenses, encouraging savings and improving household financial organization.
