Mobility

The week was marked by the expansion of the X30 express bus route, which will connect Sant Just Desvern with the area around Sant Feliu de Llobregat commuter rail station and introduce new articulated buses. Residents have also been invited to register as volunteers for the 2026 Tour de France, which will pass through the municipality on 5 July next year.

Urban Development

The Town Council has announced the creation of a new dog recreation area at Les Basses de Sant Pere, expanding the municipality’s network of canine facilities. At the same time, the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) will renovate the dog park in Parc del Mil·lenari, while routine cleaning, maintenance and disinfection work will continue at animal-friendly spaces across the town.

Culture

The cultural agenda has been particularly busy. The official poster for Sant Just Desvern’s 2026 Festa Major has been unveiled, with local resident Luis Alonso Collado winning the competition from a total of 27 entries. The fifth edition of the Vall Festival has also been announced and will return on 20 June with two stages, six musical performances and a renewed food offering.

The Joan Margarit Library will host the presentation of Pablo Wessling’s novel Amore to mark LGTBIQ+ Pride Month, while the call for artists to submit exhibition proposals for the Celler de Can Ginestar in 2027 remains open until 30 June. Plaça Camoapa will host the 3rd Second-Hand and Craft Market, organized by L’Ateneu and La Sala, featuring market stalls, live music and a bar service. Meanwhile, the Town Council has condemned another act of vandalism against a mural dedicated to children’s rights and confirmed that it will be restored. Demographic data also show that Sant Just recorded positive net migration in 2024, mainly driven by arrivals from abroad.

Education

Sant Just Desvern remains one of the 14 municipalities in the Barcelona province implementing local agreements to combat educational segregation, with support from the Barcelona Provincial Council to promote a more balanced distribution of students and strengthen equal opportunities.

The municipality also held the public draw to break ties in the admission process for the Marrecs and Mainada municipal nursery schools for the 2026–2027 academic year. Number 2 was selected as the tie-break number, determining the priority order for applications with the same score. A total of 143 applications were submitted for 116 available places across the two schools.
